Agi & Sam’s Fresh Prints
Who said, what we wear should be regimented and restricted? We absolutely love the eccentricity of these new(ish) London-based designers, Agi & Sam. Putting the fun in fash-un, their collections are not only loud and outlandish, but hilarious to boot.
Once comically and affectionately referred to as “the Ant and Dec of fashion” by a twitter fan, fashion design graduate, Agi – and Sam, an illustration graduate, only decided to set up their own label in 2010 - after meeting during their time as interns for Alexander McQueen. Their minds bursting full of ideas and creativity never afforded them to hang about - as a result they’ve recently released their third collection. What we love most about their unique designs is their use of digital print in each item, shooting clean off the radical scale.
We’re still buzzing off the AW11 collection that was heavily influenced by the experimental attire of the Fresh Prince of Bel Air, and have you seen those trousers that are covered in potato smiley prints?! Ace Ventura; stand aside.
Proving a smash at 2011’s London Fashion Week, we hear the daring duo are set to turn more heads at this year’s LFW, as part of Fashion East. The SS12 collection is just as loop-the-loop, combining what looks like inspiration from Mexico’s ‘Day of the Dead’ celebrations together with Magic Eye meets Bridget Riley-inspired stripes; all washed down with blinding, vibrant colour.
Even though said collection includes a good old trusty summer balaclava, the best part of all of this is – it’s all Prêt A Porter! And wouldn’t the world be a better place if we all just took ourselves just that little bit less seriously and threw on a pair of orange knee-high socks for work?
Kudos Agi & Sam. We take our [wicker basket printed] hat off to you.
