Swan Yamaha Team

As massive fans of British Superbiking, Swan are proud official sponsors at the annual MCE Insurance British Superbike Championships for the fourth season running. After striking a deal with Yamaha last year, their two man team, in the shape of hugely talented riders Michael Laverty and Tommy Hill, rose triumphant after Hill was crowned the BSB 2011 British champion in October.

The Swan Yamaha team is headed up by Team Principal Shaun Muir, who after retiring from professional racing, decided to turn his hand to team management. Offering support to the team are twins Sara and Kirsty, who spent last year backing the Swan Yamaha team for glory.

The season consists of twelve races spread across famous racetracks all over the country, including Brands Hatch, Oulton Park, Donington Park and Silverstone. Thousands of fans travel far and wide adding to the electric atmosphere and trepidation in the build-up to each event.

BSB 2011, the final race of the season, was branded the ‘race of the decade’ by Motor Cycle News. After that crescendo we eagerly look forward to the next season starting in April 2012, where hopefully Swan Yamaha will again shrug off their competition with ease (…or by 0.006 seconds in this case).

After the 2011 winning race and still panting with excitement, winner Tommy Hill declared “I need someone to punch me or something to bring me back to reality. I just want to go out and race again now! I just want to celebrate now with my family, friends and the whole of the Swan Yamaha team and I need to thank everyone for their support this season."
